ABCOFFEE School Podcast

Texto e fotografia: Miguel Barbot

We were at the beginning of the first Portuguese Covid lockdown when this treat arrived: the premier of a podcast produced by our good friends from ABCOFFEE School. The school is an unprecedented project in Porto, founded by two coffee geeks: Diogo and Hugo. Diogo is the chap roasting our special edition Coffee.

I’ve worked with clients interested in a transition, something still rudimentary, to more sustainable agriculture. But most of them are people who have lived off conventional agriculture all their lives. Today, when I think about working with food, I think much further than that. The customers who come to me, whether restaurants or producers are doing niche things with a lot of added value. Their target audience is people aligned with the coffee (speciality) and my audience at Velo Culture.

For the first episode of a series full of illustrious connoisseurs, the crazy people deciding this podcast decided it was a good idea to invite me. Maybe I'm illustrious, one never knows, but I'm certainly not a connoisseur.

I pedalled my way to the school, a bit frightened. However, once the mic was on, I tried to go down a more favourable path, avoiding geeky questions the best I could. In the end, I had a great time that evening and enjoyed listening to the episode.

You can listen to the first episode of the "Café como deve ser" podcast here (in Portuguese only).
